My work in painting is always that of discovery. I do something, and see what happens. It is a process of decision, always based on informed intuition, sponteneity and experimentation. Above all, I wish to surprise myself. I'm interrested in the behavior of substances and materials. I wonder on what is their best expression and how can I manipulate them in favour of my goals, even if undetermined from the get go.

The term Power is central in my work. The concept of power isn't simply negative or repressive. On the contrary, power is to bring about the possibility of an opening of domains of action, production and knowledge. This capacity of aprehension of new ideas is possible through  certain types of action and production manifested in acceptable ways such as art or repressive ways such as violence. The metaphor present throughout my work is the possibility of the phallus, as representation of power, being  acted through the pictoric experience. Not as a symbol of some kind of phollogocentrism that is connected to the phallus as a double for the penis but as a symbol that potenciates the capacity to apreend new ideas and emotions.

My language is semi abstract and characterized by the use of bright colours and gesture. I aim to express the utmost intensity of colour, to reveal its qualities, to make it expressive at the same time as emphasizing a certain immaterial character that a colour might have, in a way that a colour exists as sensation and as a vehicle that carries nuances, not necessarily inherent to the colour itself but that are brought forth by the overlayering of different colours. As I use colour as a vehicle for the expression of emotion, gesture is a way of liking these emotions to a personal notion of power, of something that is inherently human and primal as my approach to the canvas is never planned and my action on it's surface is always an unpredictable and unique experience.

My scope is to demonstrate the possibility of painting, through it's own expressive ways, not only vehiculate but also participate in an actualization of the multiple ideographic expressions that the phallus can assume as a catalyst for an artistic discourse around the complex idea of power.
